2019 ECSJ: Visiting St. Paul’s Episcopal in Oxford, NY on Spiritual Freedom Sunday!

Drawn to drive 35 miles north up the Spiritual Valley of the Chenango River to attend a Morning Prayer Service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church… in my first book I attributed the love, grace, and spirit of my mother to the gentle current & flow of water in the Chenango River…

Powerful message of FREEDOM, true spiritual freedom, given in service by Bill (Prayer Leader) and Diane (Music Leader)… Readings, Gospel and sermon by David W. Peters read by Bill… see link below… YES, we define freedom in America by our country’s journey via the Revolutionary War to freedom and we all know and realize in the world past, present, and hopefully not the future that freedom is not free… our daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, mothers, and fathers gave their lives and other heroes many, many, many years of service… grateful to be an American and celebrate this 4th of July…

Also know and realize that there is a Spiritual FREEDOM that birthed our country and predates even Biblical Times as God has always sought to make us free mainly from ourselves… just like each of us, this is a beautiful church from the outside and even more glorious once you go inside and get to know oneself and others…

Chandeliers in church are pre-Revolutionary War and from St. George’s Chapel in MYC… for the record there were 12 of us worshiping together… with gratitude to Rev. Peters, Paul, Diane, Roberta & the wonderful lady who welcomed me coming and going; my friends in Christ and in the Valley of Spiritual Growth! TROML Baby (an exclamation of JOY)!!!

2 Kings 2:9-10: When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Request whatever I might do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha answered, “May I receive a double portion of your spirit.” He replied, “You have asked something that is not easy. Still, if you see me taken up from you, your wish will be granted; otherwise not.”

Galatians 5:1 The Importance of Faith. “For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.”

Galatians 5:16-25 “I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh. For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want. But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law… the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit…

2019 ECSJ: Experiencing the Bible at the Halsey Valley Victory House near Spencer, NY!

The Chenango & Susquehanna Rivers come together in downtown Binghamton, New York… I like to think of the Triple Cities area as the ‘Valleys of Spiritual Growth to attain Spiritual Freedom’ going back to my formative childhood days to now being back here for the Summer of 2019… So I took a drive west following the Susquehanna Valley to the Halsey Valley Victory House near Spencer, NY… Heard about it as through a friend of my cousin Mike after services last Sunday.

Drove out for a Wednesday evening Bible Study hosted by Amy & Paul… Spiritual experience learning more about Jesus, The Holy Spirit & God through this beautiful couple and Browny & Dan… in fact I am now convinced that The Holy Spirit is always present especially in these ‘Valleys of Spiritual Growth’… all you have to do is seek to connect the dots… this area is known for having dots, places along the way of the Underground Railroad where African-American slaves followed a secret network to freedom in the North… maybe some day soon it will be known as the place to come where anyone can journey within and connect the dots of their own life to become fully free as their ‘Splendid Spiritual Self’ It really is an idyllic place with so much beauty, resources, diversity and yes challenges which have been, are, and will become solutions both internally and externally… just like me and I imagine you too! All glory to God, Jesus, & The Holy Spirit! TROML Baby (an exclamation of JOY)!!! www.SplendidSpiritualSelf.com (Andy Reistetter; 6/29/19; Facebook Post with 30 Pics)

2019 East Coast Spiritual Journey to New Life at New Life Ministries in Endicott, New York!!!

I had one of those spiritual experiences today where one knows as it is unfolding that they are being led to a certain place at a certain time to hear a certain message! I re-connected with my cousin Michael Vlasak after many years and joined him in worship at New Life Ministries with his friend Tony… what a dynamic celebration… lots of spiritual energy…

With Cousin Mike & my new friend Tony!

With Cousin Mike & my new friend Tony!

Pastor Joe Wickman’s sermon came from the Book of Nehemiah including parts of Chapters 2 thru 6… where Nehemiah gets permission from the King of Babylon to rebuild the Wall around Jerusalem. He faces opposition from the enemies of the Jewish people yet perseveres to rebuild the wall… you will get the message in terms of our lives, faith and work by flipping through the pics…

Onward with the 10-point TROML 2020 plan! TROML Baby (an exclamation of JOY)! Hallelujah! Thanks cousin Mike, Pastor Joe, the music ministry and all the wonderful folks I met at New Life Ministries this morning! (Andy Reistetter; 6/23/19; Facebook Post with 30 Pics)

Three most recent generations!

Three most recent generations of Reistetter’s!

In the long timeline of human civilization we have no control over the sliver of time that is ours to call a lifetime… I have been blessed to be sandwiched in life between my inspirational Father Andy Sr. and my two loving sons Joe & Tim. Very blessed indeed! Also blessed to have gone back a few generations, literally to Slovakia to walk in the land where my fatherr’s father Andrew Ambrose and earlier generations were born, raised, and lived. Also blessed now to see forward to a new generation through my grandson Xavier and who knows maybe another one or two… I wish; maybe another one too; that is! A big thank you of gratitude for the love, promise, & time together with Joe & Tim’s Mother Mary; without which none of this would have become a reality! Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there in Facebook Land, to my Dad, to Me and to my son Tim… Very blessed and grateful indeed! TROML Baby (an exclamation of JOY)! 2019 ECSJ: Nineveh Presbyterian Church: Home of Johnny Hart’s Creative Prayer!

The 2019 East Coast Spiritual Journey continues…

It was pouring rain this morning but I took a drive out to Ninevah, about 20 miles, to attend the 9:30 am Morning Worship at Ninevah Presbyterian Church. The seed to do so was planted nearly 4 years ago while attending the Johnny Hart Memorial Christian Fellowship Breakfast on the Thursday morning preceding the 2015 Dick’s Sporting Goods Open. Hart, a cartoonist, created his biggest success B.C. in 1957 and 12 years later his caveman golfer became the logo for the PGA TOUR’s B.C. Open at En Joie Golf Course in Endicott, NY.

What drew me to Nineveh Presbyterian Church was Hart’s biblical path to receiving Jesus into one’s life on the church website (see link below) under the heading ‘Looking for a Sign from God?’

The Church, the community present, and the Service drew me in immediately on Trinity Sunday, a week after Pentecost Sunday…Faith leading to Grace… the Prayer of Confession followed by the Assurance of Pardon and the Passing of the Peace… which was folks coming out of their pews to warmly welcome me and everybody else which set the tone for the spiritual experience… Pastor Adam Demetros led a short Children’s Time with an eloquent explanation of the 3-leaf shamrock representing the Trinity—God the Father, Jesus His Son, and The Holy Spirit. Add a stem and the shamrock becomes a cross symbolizing the death and resurrection of Jesus.

With Pastor Adam Demetros; note the 'Sensational Sermons' award on the shelf. Very appropriate!

With Pastor Adam Demetros; note the ‘Sensational Sermons’ award on the shelf. Very appropriate!

Pastor Demetros’ sermon was quite moving starting with the gospel from Genesis 1:1-13… In the beginning God created… and noting the start of the Gospel of John—In the beginning was the Word… which describes the character of God as an artist, a creator… a Creator of Unity… everything has a starting point in God who created something out of nothing… something good out of a void, out of chaos… quite similar to what He does in our lives as Creator—Redeemer–Sustainer along with Jesus and The Holy Spirit.

Not only was there unity in God’s creation but also there was variety; day and night; waters and sky; land and seas; son, moon, and stars… One Earth, many creations! In the beginning we were called together because in the beginning was our One God.

Such a beautiful celebration with piano playing, choir singing and passing of the microphone to share prayers for family, friends, and strangers alike. A true Christian community indeed. As a Catholic I thought the Service ended rather abruptly with no communion and a final ‘Praise the Lord and Alleluia!’ But the fellowship continued…

May Bobby & Johnny Hart live another eternally gifted life!

May Bobby & Johnny Hart live another eternally gifted life!

After taking some pictures (imagine that!) I was inspired to pay my respects to the grave of Johnny Hart and his wife Bobby at the nearby Ninevah Presbyterian Cemetery. I will end with the Scriptures noted on their headstone first Bobby’s and then Johnny’s:

John 20:29: “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”

Mark 11:22: And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

2019 ECSJ: Celebrating The Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday with the Pentecostals!

The 2019 East Coast Spiritual Journey (ECSJ) continues…

I am very excited about this Sunday being Pentecost which is when The Holy Spirit descended upon the world! Why? Because my next book is about the Power of The Holy Spirit in our spiritual selves and in our lives today!

If you have a story, know someone with a story please share it with a comment or by messaging me if you want to keep it confidential.

My story, generally, is that in the last 11+ years The Holy Spirit has inspired me to take a journey that has literally taken me around the world and also has gone very deeply inside me. it all started in golf, following the PGA TOUR, because golf is a spiritual experience for me and doing so exposed me to many inspirational people and charities. I seek inspiration and then look for how the Power of The Holy Spirit enabled that person to do extraordinary things or something so simple and pertinent to life that which we sometimes overlook. Over time the journey has transitioned into purely spiritual endeavors, most recently being in Israel and Palestine for a month over this past winter.

Look for The Holy Spirit within and in the person next to you and your life will change dramatically!

Happy Pentecost Sunday! Don’t forget to wear RED! Alleluia!

Acts 2: 16-21:

“But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;

Yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days. I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

And I will show wonders in the heaven above
and signs on the earth beneath,
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;

The sun shall be turned into darkness
and the moon into blood,
before the day of the Lord comes,
the great and manifest day.

And it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

What better way to celebrate Pentecost than with the Pentecostals? Morning Service at Calvary’s Love Church and an evening Ignite Service at Two Rivers Church! Powerful sense of presence of The Holy Spirit for sure throughout the day! As part of The Trinity, The Holy Spirit is right up there with God and Jesus! God, of course, has everything, everybody, continually in worship; Jesus has two big days and a whole week; Christmas, and Holy Week leading up to Easter… Pentecost is a day for The Holy Spirit! Seems to me (without judgment) as though someone should write a book about the Power of the Holy Spirit that complements the love, compassion, & mercy of Jesus in the New Testament… seriously some one should write a book about the Power of the Holy Spirit… Can I get an Al-le-lu-ia? 2019 ECSJ: Inspired by The Holy Spirit above the Altar at St. Thomas Aquinas on Pentecost!

Feeling inspired by The Holy Spirit at St. Thomas Aquinas Church
The Holy Spirit above the altar at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton, New York!

The Holy Spirit above the altar at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton, New York!

Beautiful mass, homily, & Chicken BBQ! Not sure which was better, the chicken BBQ or Father Evan’s homily? Being Pentecost Sunday we sang Happy Birthday to ourselves, the Church! Seriously good homily message about the gift of The Holy Spirit, that we are not left orphans… which led beautifully into the sold out Chucken BBQ, a fundraiser for the orphanage of 110 children in Father Evan’s home village in Kenya. Seriously good Chicken BBQ, best ever, & definitely the most organized! Beautiful spiritual & culinary experience! (Andy Reistetter; 6/14/19; Facebook Post with 30 Pics).

Acts 2:1-4: The Coming of the Spirit. When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with The Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.

Acts 2:14-21: Peter’s Speech at Pentecost. 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed to them, “You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem. Let this be known to you, and listen to my words. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning. 16 No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:

17 ‘It will come to pass in the last days,’ God says,
‘that I will pour out a portion of my spirit
    upon all flesh.
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids
I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days,
        and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will work wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below:
blood, fire, and a cloud of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned to darkness,
    and the moon to blood,
before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord,
21 and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.’

2019 ECSJ: Worshipping God, Jesus, & The Holy Spirit at Holy Trinity in Binghamton, NY!

Beautiful and inspiring Sunday mass at Holy Trinity! World Communications Day promoting the value of the Gospels! Monsignor Putano’s sermon really hit home about being at peace and unity with self, family, community, country, and the world!

The First Reading from Acts of the Apostles where Stephen while being stoned to death forgave those that were sinning against him. He was the first Christian Martyr and gave the Ultimate Sacrifice in faith asking Lord Jesus to receive his spirit.

John 17: 20-26 “I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am[g] they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, the world also does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you sent me. I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them.”   (Andy Reistetter; 6/3/19; Facebook Post with 30 Pics)

Happy Memorial Day! Remembering Women & Man Who Made the Supreme Sacrifice!

Happy Memorial Weekend! Remembering the men & women who have died while serving in the United States of America’s armed forces, especially my Uncle John who died in the Battle of the Coral Sea and my Uncle Paul who suffered grave injuries as a young man and spent the rest of his life in VA hospitals. I am proud to be part of a family that has served our country, protected our freedom and helped share the spirit of true sister and brotherhood throughout the world,. Other veterans in the family include my brother Dave, my brother-in-law Bill, many cousins, all four of my Mom’s brothers and my Dad and six Reistetter brothers. God Bless those heroes who made the Supreme Sacrifice for all of us and all our veterans… (Andy Reistetter; 5/25/19; Facebook Post with 11 Pics)

2019 ECSJ: Soaring above St. Cyril & Methodius Church in the Valley of Spiritual Growth!

The 2019 East Coast Spiritual Journey (ECSJ) continues…

CLICK here to soar high above St. Cyril & Methodius Church in the Valley of Spiritual Growth!

Beautiful 10:15 am mass this morning. Meaningful gospel message & inspiring sermon by Father Fred Kooro! What can satisfy us? Only the love & peace of Jesus! Heart warming story of visiting his Mom… Support Father Kooro’s orphanage in Kenya by buying a ticket to a Chicken BBQ on Saturday, June 8th after the 4 pm mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Holy Name.

John 14:23-29

23 Jesus answered him, “Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me.

25 “I have said these things to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe.
