Without a Higher Power, I only trusted myself. I never noticed how poorly that was working for me. Having faith in God has allowed me to let go of much of my fear and then open myself with a calm heart. I was unaware of the crippling effects that a lack of trust in God and others created until I began to work the Twelve Steps. Now I see just how imprisoned I was and that I was the jailer.
